  1. Hi Jaime!

My name is Mikey. I am a member of the Summer Learning Journey team and I will be commenting on some of your blog posts over the next few weeks. It looks like you've made a great start and I'm excited to read what you've written so far.

First off, you've done an amazing job displaying each of the activities. I can tell you've put a lot of effort into each post so well done.

You've used wonderful language in your opinion piece on Tāne Mahuta which really helps me see your point of view. Thank you for including some facts about Tāne Mahuta as well - knowing more about it has made me want to see it too! Are there any other places in New Zealand you'd be interested in visiting?

Well done on researching your three New Zealand sports teams, and writing a description on each. I'm torn between the Silver Ferns and the White Ferns uniforms as my favourite but I can see why you've chosen the White Ferns. Do you play any of these sports yourself? Or any other sports you haven't mentioned here?

Great work with activity 3 as well. I like how you've explained what information you need to know before you can solve the problem. Are you able to talk me through the strategy you've used to come to that answer?

Fantastic work so far Jaime. Keep it up!

    Blog ya later! :)

    1. Hey Mikey,

First of all, thank you so much for your lovely feedback :)

In reply to your first question, I would really like to visit Nelson Lakes National Park. I've read countless news articles on the subject and I definitely want to go someday.

As for your second question, I actually play netball for my local club. I really look up to the Silver Ferns too - especially Maria Tutaia because we play the same positions. Also, I've played both indoor and outdoor football for the past two years. I actually got Player Of The Year last year in my first season of playing.

And finally, the strategy I used for the third activity was algebra, which I decided to use as a strategy to challenge myself (I'm not so good at it!). You see, the number of days in a year (we will use the letter d to symbolise this) and the amount of water we need to give the cactus (we will use w to symbolise this) are both variables. By multiplying the variables w and d we are able to get the final answer. For example, 4w x 4d = 16wd I believe. Hopefully this will kind of explain my strategy a bit further.

Again, thank you for the feedback. I hope to receive more comments from you in the future!

      - Jaime
