Jaime What fantastic work .. the modern day equivalent would I guess be for Britain to lose 35million people (I think that's between 40% and 50-% of the population?) or for NZ to lose 2 million people.
Can you think of any disease we see around today that might have the capacity to cause such catastrophic loss of life?
Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it very much.
In response to your question, there are a number of diseases in this day and age that have had similar effects to the Black Death - most notably the Ebola Virus in 2013-2016 and the Zika Virus in 2015-2016. In New Zealand we have experienced flu pandemics in 2009 and 1918, causing around 1200 deaths between the two of them.
Medical research in New Zealand will hopefully increase in the next few years to stop outbreaks occuring, and with improve technology on the rise - e.g 3D printing and gene therapy - this outcome could come sooner!
